SHAH ALAM, July 15 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), in partnership with the Society for The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Selangor, yesterday held the Potong Royong animal neutering campaign.
According to an MBSA Facebook statement, Potong Royong, which was held in Dewan Seri Gading in Section U13 here, offered subsidised neutering of cats and dogs.
“This (initiative) is for sustainable animal management through a subsidised neutering programme for dogs and cats, in addition to vaccine administration and parasite prevention treatment for the animals,” read the statement.
Potong Royong also involves independent animal rescuers, pet owners, and the general community.
MBSA said the initiative aims to reduce public complaints about animal-related disturbances, improve public health, and foster responsible pet ownership.
“MBSA is committed to keep strengthening strategic collaborations with agency and non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners to ensure animal welfare and community well-being,” it added.
