SHAH ALAM, July 14 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) has intensified patrols and monitoring of inland waterway navigation activities along Sungai Klang and Sungai Langat to ensure the areas remain free from activities that could affect water resources.
In a statement on Facebook, LUAS said the patrols were being carried out to monitor the rivers for any disturbances and sources of water pollution.
“LUAS patrols and monitoring efforts are aimed at ensuring the areas remain free from activities that could contribute to disturbances and water pollution,” the statement said.
The agency also reminded all licence holders conducting activities in water bodies such as rivers, lakes, water catchment areas and canals to comply with the stipulated terms and regulations.
According to LUAS, such compliance is essential to prevent pollution incidents that could affect the quality and quantity of Selangor’s water resources.
“Please ensure that you obtain a licence and approval from LUAS before carrying out any inland waterway navigation activities,” it said.
LUAS also called on the public to work together to preserve water resources by embracing the principles of “Awareness, Vigilance and Action”.
