SHAH ALAM, July 13 — Police are tracking a man who allegedly stole a black Honda Civic FD during a test drive at a used car dealership in Seksyen 25 on July 10.
Shah Alam police chief Sarudin Samah said the department received a report at 10.59pm after the suspect fled with the vehicle upon persuading the salesperson to allow him a test drive.
He said the complainant had received a phone call from the suspect who expressed interest to purchase the car.
“Around 8.30pm the same day, the suspect arrived at the premises (SN Automobil in Taman Sri Muda) to view the vehicle, requesting a test drive of the car. The suspect also expressed interest in purchasing it with a cash payment of RM30,000.
“Initially, the complainant did not allow the suspect to test drive the car, but the suspect said he would buy and exchange ownership if he was satisfied with the car,” Sarudin said in a statement.
He said efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect are underway.
The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery, which carries a maximum prison sentence of up to 14 years and a fine or whipping, upon conviction.
