SHAH ALAM, July 11 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) issued 31 compounds and seized several items during a hawker compliance operation conducted at several locations under its jurisdiction recently.

The local authority said the operation, involving its Licensing Department in collaboration with the Enforcement and Security Department, aimed to ensure business activities were carried out in accordance with the stipulated conditions and regulations.

“Inspections found several offences under the MPS Hawker By-Laws, with 26 compounds issued under By-Law 3, three compounds under By-Law 16(1), and one compound under By-Law 10(2).

“Seizure action was also taken against foreign hawkers found to have committed offences,” it said in a Facebook post.

By-Law 3 relates to operating a business without a licence, while By-Law 10(2) covers failure to display a licence and By-Law 16(1) concerns non-compliance with stall size requirements.

During the operation, MPS also identified six hawkers along Jalan SM 1, Taman Sunway Batu Caves, who were operating without permits, involving the sale of food and beverages using food trucks, static tents, as well as seasonal flowers and fruits.

“MPS issued one compound under By-Law 3 and carried out six seizures.

Seizure action under By-Law 3 was also carried out against a durian seller who was operating without a permit in front of the Sri Batu Caves Shell petrol station.
