SHAH ALAM, July 10 — A forest fire near a residential area in Tiara Heights, Desa Salak Harmoni, Sepang, was brought under control by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department this evening.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 4.24 pm before a team from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station and the Sepang Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.
“The fire engines arrived at the location about 10 minutes later and found that the blaze involved a forested area near a residential settlement, covering an estimated two acres.
“The fire was brought under control at 6.51 pm, and extinguishing and monitoring works are still being carried out to ensure there are no remaining sources that could reignite the blaze,” he said in a statement today.
The operation involved 18 personnel and five vehicles, comprising a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle and a water tanker from the KLIA Fire and Rescue Station, as well as an FRT and an EMRS vehicle from the Sepang Fire and Rescue Station.
According to Ashrul Riezal, no casualties were reported in the incident, while firefighters are continuing investigations to determine the cause of the fire and ensure the affected area is safe.
