BANDUNG, July 9 — Selangor’s strategic partnership with West Java is set to accelerate industrial transformation in both areas while contributing to broader economic growth across ASEAN, state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said.
Speaking at the SIBS@ASEAN forum, Ng said the expansion of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) to the regional stage is aligned with the state’s upcoming Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), which prioritises digital transformation and the development of high-value industries.
“Through our cooperation with West Java, we hope to strengthen the digital ecosystem and accelerate industrial transformation in both regions.
“This will not only benefit Selangor and West Java, but also contribute to the overall growth of the ASEAN economy,” he added.
Ng said the forum is an important milestone in Selangor’s efforts to broaden regional economic networks for businesses and investors operating in the state while helping them expand into Southeast Asian markets.
He said the collaboration between Selangor and West Java goes beyond strengthening economic ties as it also reinforces longstanding cultural and historic bonds between Malaysia and Indonesia.
“SIBS@ASEAN represents a significant step towards fostering greater economic cooperation within ASEAN by encouraging trade and investment promotion at the sub-national level, including between states, provinces and cities,” he added.

Ng highlighted that the summit has become an important platform for regional trade and investment, with the 2025 edition attracting more than 50,000 visitors and generating RM8.15 billion in potential transactions.
“Building on this success, we are expanding SIBS to the ASEAN level, with West Java the first international location selected for this initiative,” he said.
Ng also credited Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari’s leadership for driving SIBS’ regional expansion, saying the summit has evolved into an internationally recognised investment platform.
“The expansion of SIBS into ASEAN reflects his commitment to strengthening regional economic relations,” he said.
Ng also expressed gratitude to the West Java government, Bandung city administration, Rebana Metropolitan Management Agency, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), West Java KADIN, Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI), and other partners for working with Invest Selangor Bhd since last year on SIBS@ASEAN.
He added that Selangor’s presence in Bandung is in line with its vision of positioning Selangor as the gateway to ASEAN.
He said entrepreneurs, investors and industry players in local and international markets may use Selangor as a launchpad to expand operations across the region, including to Bandung.
He also said SIBS is also aligned with RS-1, the state’s first five-year development blueprint that focuses on economic growth, social empowerment, sustainable development, and efficient governance.
Ng expressed hope that the SIBS@ASEAN forum would generate tangible Selangor-West Java business collaborations and investment opportunities.
