BANDUNG, July 9 — Selangor’s strengths as a major hub for manufacturing, logistics, digital services, and green industries make the state an ideal partner in advancing ASEAN economic integration, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.

Speaking at the inaugural Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS)@ASEAN in Bandung, Indonesia, he said Selangor is keen to exchange knowledge with regional partners to strengthen economic ties.

“We hope to share our experiences and expertise with our partners in West Java and other regions in ASEAN, while building stronger business networks across the region,” he said in his welcoming address during the two-day summit at the Pullman Grand Central today.

Ng added that he is confident that combining Selangor’s strengths in manufacturing, logistics, and digital services with West Java’s capabilities in similar industries would create supply chain synergies that benefit both sides.

On today’s event, he said the Selangor delegation is the largest to date, comprising 70 companies, including state government-linked companies and private firms operating in the state.

Ng noted that the delegation also included 225 participants, reflecting the strong interest in exploring trade and investment opportunities in West Java.

“Among the sectors represented by industry players from Selangor are aerospace, rail and mobility, creative industries, utilities and energy, property development, and technology.

“In addition, the two-day exhibition also features the medical tourism and higher education sectors, with the participation of 30 exhibition booths,” he said.

The main focus of this year’s exhibition is to promote medical tourism and education as high-value service sectors, while strengthening Selangor’s position as a preferred destination for quality healthcare, wellness and internationally recognised education.

“I am confident that through this collaboration, we can build a more united and prosperous ASEAN economic future,” Ng said.

The councillor hopes that SIBS@ASEAN will serve as a starting point for closer relations between Selangor and West Java, as well as between Malaysia and Indonesia more broadly, and that more such initiatives will be held in the future.
