PLATS Career Transition kicks off in August to help entrepreneur hopefuls

SHAH ALAM, July 6 — The Platform Selangor (PLATS) Career Transition programme, under the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP), kicks off next month to help 5,000 people who lost their jobs find a new stream of income through entrepreneurship.

Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the foundation is putting the finishing touches on the programme, including obtaining data from the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) to identify eligible participants.

He said PLATS Career Transition gives focus to those who were retrenched, including those in their 40s who want to start a business as a new career.

Azri added that participants won’t just be guided into starting a business, but will receive comprehensive support like financing, equipment, training, and exposure to entrepreneurship.

The programme was introduced under SREP Phase 2, which was tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari last month.

PLATS Career Transition, with a RM4 million allocation, would let participants join training sessions and gain exposure to basic business strategies before they start their own endeavours.
