SHAH ALAM, July 4 — Hulu Selangor is set to receive more than RM1.6 billion in new investments through two high-impact projects expected to strengthen the district's economic development.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said they involve the construction of the second overseas manufacturing plant of Chinese tyre manufacturer Wanli Tire, as well as a lithium battery materials manufacturing project by XTC New Energy.
“I recently led a delegation to Guangzhou to meet with Wanli Tire, one of China's leading tyre manufacturers. It plans to build its second overseas factory in Selangor.
“Together with XTC New Energy's lithium battery materials project, these two investments are estimated to be worth approximately RM1.6 billion and will be implemented in Hulu Selangor,” he said in a Facebook post.
Ng added that Wanli Tire's factory represents a RM1.37 billion investment and will have an annual production capacity of 6.2 million tyres.

It is also expected to create 1,350 employment opportunities for local residents, covering not only production line positions but also high-skilled roles such as engineers, quality control specialists, and management personnel.
“Young people in Hulu Selangor will now have a clearer career pathway with an internationally recognised manufacturer, without having to leave their home district.
“In addition, XTC New Energy plans to invest approximately RM260 million to manufacture lithium battery cathode materials, further strengthening Selangor's new energy industry value chain,” he said.
Ng noted that the state's economic development should not be concentrated solely in the Klang Valley but should also be expanded to rural areas so that the benefits of economic growth can be enjoyed more widely.
“By bringing world-class manufacturing industries to Hulu Selangor, we are ensuring that every part of the state shares in the benefits of development,” he said.
