SHAH ALAM, July 1 — Retail prices of unsubsidised petrol and diesel have been reduced for this week in line with the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), following a decline in average international market prices over the previous week.
For the period, the retail price of RON97 has been reduced by 10 sen to RM4.00 per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 has also been lowered by 10 sen to RM3.37 per litre.
The retail price of unsubsidised diesel has likewise been reduced by 10 sen to RM3.97 per litre.
The fuel prices were announced yesterday to align the new pricing period with the implementation of the BUDI Madani Diesel (BUDI Diesel) programme, which begins today, July 1, 2026.
In a statement, the Ministry of Finance said international petroleum market prices have continued to moderate from the peak levels recorded during the height of the West Asia crisis.
It said the trend was supported by signs of improving global supply flows, as well as expectations that negotiations over the conflict could reduce the risk of disruptions to crude oil supplies.

"However, the global petroleum market has yet to return to full stability. Risks to crude oil prices, shipping costs and supply stability remain as long as the conflict has not reached a definitive resolution, while supply chain recovery will also take time.
"Although the country's fuel supply remains sufficient for now, the Madani government urges the public to continue using fuel prudently.
"More efficient travel planning and reducing unnecessary journeys can help extend the country's fuel supply and ease pressure on subsidy spending," it said, as reported by Berita Harian.
