SHAH ALAM, June 26 — The Selangor Immigration Department (JIM) on Wednesday detained 270 foreigners during raids on two factories in Klang.
It said Op Mega was carried out with 50 enforcers from the Selangor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), Selangor Labour Department, and Selangor Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
Enforcers checked a total of 586 migrant workers and detained 270, who were from Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, aged between 18 and 50.
“All those detained were sent to the Semenyih Immigration Depot for remand and further investigation,” Selangor JIM said in a Facebook post yesterday.
The joint operation included Selangor JIM deputy director (control) Mohamad Khusairi Kamarudin, deputy director (management) Redman Safar, and enforcement division head Mohd Rozy Hassan.
In the Facebook post, JIM said harboring undocumented migrants is a serious offence, and those found doing so will face legal action.
