KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — National squash player Sivasangari Subramaniam fell short in her bid to capture the PSA Squash Tour finals 2025-2026 title after losing 1-3 to world number one Hania El Hammamy of Egypt in the women's final in Paris, France, on Saturday.
Despite the defeat, the world number five capped an impressive campaign by finishing runner-up, delivering Malaysia's best result in the prestigious season-ending tournament since squash legend Nicol Ann David reached the final in 2012.
The fourth-seeded Sivasangari dropped the opening game 6-11 but responded strongly to edge the second game 11-10 against the second-seeded Egyptian.
However, El Hammamy regained her composure and took the next two games 11-8, 11-8 to seal the title.
Sivasangari secured her place in the final after producing the tournament's biggest upset, defeating world number two and top seed Amina Orfi of Egypt 8-11, 11-10, 11-8, 11-10 in a gruelling 74-minute semi-final clash.
The runner-up finish continues Sivasangari's outstanding form in 2026, having also claimed the Grasshopper Cup title in Zurich in April.
