SHAH ALAM, June 19 — Selangor has 111 recyclables collection centres, including ones that accept e-waste, said state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
She said this is a significant increase compared with only 35 locations previously, with current facilities spread out statewide.
She added that the state government, through the Selangor Climate Change Adaptation Centre (SCAC), has updated its recycling centre database on the Lestari Selangor website for public viewing.
“To date, 111 recyclables collection centres, including (for) e-waste, have been identified,” she told Media Selangor, adding that these locations are mapped on the Lestari Selangor website, which includes Google Maps links and GPS coordinates.
She encouraged local authorities to register recycling centres in areas under their jurisdiction, and requested that industry players place e-waste recycling bins at malls and offices to support the state’s sustainability agenda.
Jamaliah said collective efforts involving local authorities, the industry, and the community can increase the number of registered recycling centres and improve e-waste collection in Selangor, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.
