SHAH ALAM, June 18 — The development of Port Klang’s Third Terminal in Pulau Carey remains on track, with land issues currently being resolved before the construction phase begins.
Kosmo! reported that Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that resolving the matter involves the Transport Ministry (MOT), the state government, and the Public-Private Partnership Unit.
The strategic project will be implemented through collaboration with the private sector, including privatisation and concession models.
“The third port project is indeed on track, and we will implement it through a joint venture with the private sector.
“At the moment, we are engaging with the Selangor government to resolve the land issues first. Following that, we will begin the construction process,” he said during a media conference at the Port Klang Free Zone in Pulau Indah, Klang, today.
Loke added that the project will be implemented under the build-operate-transfer model and aims to commence this year.
“What is important is that the land issues are resolved,” he said.
Previously, on March 11, the minister said the federal government had approved the development of the third terminal at Port Klang in Pulau Carey, with the Cabinet meeting approving a memorandum by the MOT for the project.
