SHAH ALAM, June 18 — Domestic waste collection in Hulu Selangor will transition to a door-to-door system beginning July 1, replacing the existing communal bin system long used in residential areas.

The move by the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) will see waste collection carried out directly from individual homes by KDEB Waste Management compactor trucks, with centralised leach bins to be phased out and removed in stages.

"Every household is required to provide its own covered rubbish bin with a minimum capacity of 120 litres. Residents must also line the bins with plastic bags to facilitate proper waste management," it said in a Facebook post.

The implementation is in line with the Local By-Laws on the Collection, Removal, and Disposal of Refuse (MPHS) 2007, which aim to improve cleanliness and create a more efficient waste collection system throughout the district.

"Dumping rubbish at discontinued communal collection points constitutes an offence under the by-laws and may result in immediate compound notices.

"Property owners or tenants who do not provide the required rubbish bins may also be fined up to RM1,000," MPHS said.

The directive was issued by MPHS President Julaihah Jamaludin as part of efforts to strengthen solid waste management services and maintain public hygiene standards across the district.
