SHAH ALAM, June 12 — A motorcyclist arrested after allegedly attacking another rider on the Federal Highway motorcycle lane with a meat cleaver yesterday morning has been remanded for four days, reported Harian Metro.
Shah Alam district police chief Sarudin Samah said the 43-year-old local man is being held under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, according to the local Malay portal.
“The suspect has been remanded for four days for further investigation, while the 45-year-old local male victim is still receiving treatment at Shah Alam Hospital and is reported to be stable,” he said today.
Yesterday, media reports said a motorcyclist was injured early in the morning after being slashed by another rider on the Federal Highway towards Kuala Lumpur near Section 13 here.
Sarudin said that in the 7am incident, the local man, who was on his way to work, honked at a rider who is believed to have been blocking his way, which seemed to have upset the suspect.
“The suspect is believed to have stopped by the roadside before attacking the victim with a meat cleaver,” he said.
Earlier, a video of the incident went viral on social media. It showed the victim lying by the motorcycle lane while the suspect brandished a meat cleaver.
The victim sustained injuries to his arm, hand, and nape.
