Malaysia welcomes home Sumud activist Capt Razman

SHAH ALAM, June 12 — Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 humanitarian activist Razman Mat Ali has safely returned home after undergoing 21 days of treatment following injuries sustained after he was allegedly assaulted by Israeli soldiers while participating in a solidarity mission for Gaza.

The matter was announced by Sumud Nusantara in a Facebook post, which described his return as a continuation of the humanitarian struggle for the Palestinian people.

"Thanks to Allah, Captain Razman has safely arrived in Malaysia after taking part in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 mission, which carried the message of solidarity and humanity for Gaza to the world stage.

"His return is not the end of a journey, but a continuation of the struggle to keep voicing the plight of the Palestinian people and raising public awareness," it said.

According to the organisation, the courage, sacrifice and commitment shown by Razman throughout the mission deserve recognition.

"Thank you for your courage, sacrifice and commitment in making this humanitarian mission for Gaza and Palestine a success.

"Welcome home, Captain. The struggle continues," it said.

On May 25, Razman was unable to return home with 28 other Malaysian activists as he was still receiving treatment in Istanbul after suffering traumatic pneumothorax, or a punctured lung, after allegedly being punched by Israeli soldiers.

Previously, Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby confirmed that 50 vessels participating in the GSF 2.0 mission, carrying 430 humanitarian activists including 29 Malaysians, had been intercepted and detained by Israel.

The vessel carrying the humanitarian volunteers was intercepted by Israeli forces near Cypriot waters on May 18 while en route to express solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.
