SHAH ALAM, June 11 — The Selangor State Youth and Sports Department is promoting active lifestyles among senior citizens through the organisation of the Senior Citizens Sports League 2026.
The department said the league is being held to encourage sportsmanship and raise awareness of the importance of healthy living among senior citizens.
"To all senior citizens in the state, we invite you to participate in the Selangor-level Senior Citizens Sports League 2026, with the aim of encouraging sportsmanship and promoting awareness of healthy lifestyles," it said in a Facebook post.
According to the department, the league also serves as a platform to empower senior citizens' participation in sports activities while fostering active and productive lifestyles within the community.
Three events will be contested in the league — petanque, bowling and darts — with competitions open to both men's and women's categories.
The petanque competition will be held on June 21 at Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Jemaah.
The bowling and darts events are scheduled to take place on June 27 at Ampang Superbowl, Summit USJ.
Champions will receive RM500 in cash and a medal, while runners-up will take home RM300 and a medal.
Third and fourth-placed winners will receive RM200 and RM100 respectively, along with medals.
Participation is free and limited to the first 60 participants for each event.
