KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — The police arrested four individuals early this morning for their alleged involvement in dangerous motorcycle stunts with three motorcycles, which recently went viral on social media.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said all four suspects, aged 17 to 24, were arrested at their respective homes in the Klang Valley between 12.30am and 1.30am.
Investigations found that the incident took place on June 6 and June 7, between 2am and 2.30am.
“All suspects were arrested to assist in investigations under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for riding recklessly and dangerously, endangering other road users, and themselves,” he said in a statement today.
Zamzuri added that the police take street gang activities, including ‘wheelie’ stunts, seriously as they not only threaten riders’ safety but also endanger other road users.
“Members of the public with information on the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Tun H.S. Lee traffic police station at 03-2071 9999 or any nearby police station,” he said.
Earlier, two videos showing motorcyclists performing ‘wheelie’ stunts along Jalan Ampang, Jalan Raja Laut, and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman went viral on social media.
