SINGAPORE, June 9 — The state is set to strengthen cooperation with Singapore and several of its agencies to explore new opportunities to increase investment and stimulate Selangor's economic growth.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the collaboration would also create opportunities to build strategic networks across various sectors, including education, culture and diplomacy.
“Today, I had the opportunity to meet and hold discussions with several Singaporean ministers, including Lee Hsien Loong, who is also a former prime minister, and Education Minister Desmond Lee.
“In addition, we met with several agencies, including the chief executive officer of Temasek Holdings, who shared valuable insights on how we can further develop the regional context of Nusantara, particularly through closer cooperation between Selangor and Singapore.
“There are several important areas where we can work together. These meetings and discussions allow us to identify and combine our respective strengths,” he told Media Selangor.
Yesterday, Amirudin began the engagements as part of an official three-day visit to Singapore under the S R Nathan Fellowship, which runs from yesterday until tomorrow.
The programme is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and the sharing of experiences between foreign leaders, senior officials, and Singapore in a range of strategic fields.
On Sunday (June 8), the Singaporean Foreign Affairs Ministry said the visit would provide the Menteri Besar with the opportunity to meet several senior leaders of the republic.
“Amirudin is also scheduled to engage with various Singapore government agencies and receive briefings on economic planning, investment promotion, urban regeneration, and urban planning.
“In addition, he will be briefed on developments in the education, arts, and cultural sectors during the visit,” it said in a statement.
