SHAH ALAM, June 8 — The Selangor government, through the Selangor Special Committee on Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (LIMAS), has disbursed RM1.29 million to 128 Buddhist and Taoist associations across the state.
LIMAS co-chairman Ng Sze Han said the committee has approved 130 applications to date, involving a total allocation of RM1.39 million.
“Overall, LIMAS has allocated RM8 million this year, of which RM3.62 million is earmarked for Buddhist and Taoist organisations.
“As of June 4, LIMAS has received 318 applications and we are expediting efforts to process the remaining submissions as soon as possible,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, Ng attended the Selangor Wesak Day Celebration 2026 organised by LIMAS yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, he said a total of 481 land lots have been gazetted for non-Muslim houses of worship since 2008, including 57 lots approved under the current administration.
“This strengthens Selangor’s position as the leading state in Malaysia in providing such allocations, and we are on track to surpass the target of 500 gazetted lots within the next few months.
“We will continue working with all communities to build a more harmonious, progressive and prosperous Selangor for everyone,” he said.
