KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is conducting investigations and scrutinising information regarding issues surrounding the evaluation process and implementation of upgrading works at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Its Strategic Communications Division said that the investigation was launched following local media reports yesterday and complaints received by the anti-graft agency regarding the matter.
“The issue is currently under MACC’s attention for investigation and further action, including scrutiny of related information and documents received.
“The MACC always views seriously claims of corruption, abuse of power and misappropriation involving public interest and government procurement,” the commission said in a statement today.
The MACC expressed appreciation to those with relevant information for coming forward and assisting in the investigation, to ensure the review process can be conducted thoroughly and professionally.
However, those channelling information are advised not to disclose details of their complaints to other parties to prevent information leaks that could affect MACC’s follow-up actions.
The media previously reported that a contractor lodged a report with MACC on Tuesday (May 26) regarding issues in the procurement process for the National Stadium upgrading project in Bukit Jalil, estimated at RM24 million, allegedly involving two tenders linked to preparations for the 2027 SEA Games.
