SHAH ALAM, May 28 — An elderly man died yesterday after being trapped under his own car, which rolled backwards into him in front of his house in Batang Kali.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Ibrahim Husin said the station was alerted of the incident at about 5.30pm yesterday, and personnel found the 67-year-old victim pinned under the vehicle.
“The victim had stepped out of the car to close the gate, but the vehicle suddenly rolled backwards and hit him.
“The impact caused the man to fall before getting trapped under the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries,” Ibrahim said, as quoted by Kosmo!.
He explained that it is believed the victim did not engage the handbrake after parking the vehicle on a slope descending to the front gate.
Ibrahim also said the victim’s body was sent to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for a post mortem, and that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
