SHAH ALAM, May 25 — Eight individuals were arrested after testing positive for drugs during the Operasi Bersepadu Samseng Jalanan (Integrated Street Gang Operation) at the Bukit Raja Toll Plaza along the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) early yesterday morning.

Selangor police said that, of the total, seven individuals tested positive for ketum while another tested positive for cannabis following 50 random screening tests conducted by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).

The operation was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) with assistance from Bukit Aman JSPT and the AADK.

Road closures were implemented at about 3 am following several hours of surveillance and intelligence gathering at the operation site to detect street gang activities.

The location is understood to have been used as a “circuit” to test the speed of modified motorcycles.

“Throughout the operation, a total of 103 vehicles and 120 individuals aged between 14 and 32 were inspected.

“A total of 200 summonses for various traffic offences were also issued, while 41 motorcycles were seized for further action,” police said in a statement.

It added that the operation would be conducted continuously to curb street gang activities while ensuring road safety, public order and compliance with traffic laws remain at the highest level.
