KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — An 11-year-old boy was found drowned this morning after he was reported to have fallen into a river near Jalan Welfare, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh yesterday.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the body of Paulus Amsal Jimri was found at 10am, about 1.9km from where he had fallen.

“The Water Rescue Team retrieved the body at 10.47am, and it was identified by family members at the scene at 11.10am before being handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement today.

The victim was believed to have fallen into the river while playing with a friend along the riverbank near the New Klang Valley Expressway, close to Menara FINAS in Damansara Damai.

Earlier, the second day of the search and rescue operation began at 7.30am, involving personnel from the Sungai Buloh and Shah Alam Fire Stations.
