KLANG, May 22 — The Royal Klang City Council (MBDK), in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Klang Central, launched a new landmark in Bandar Bukit Tinggi yesterday.
The landmark, located at the Persiaran Jalan Batu Nilam 2 roundabout, is part of a themed roundabout beautification initiative aimed at enhancing the aesthetic value of the urban environment for the well-being of the local community.
MBDK Corporate Communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said the council expressed appreciation to the rotary club for its full commitment in realising the sustainable community project.
She said the landmark symbolises the collaboration between non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the local authority in adding value to Klang’s image as a heritage city.
“The contributions of funding, time and effort from various external parties in realising this project also reflect Rotary’s motto, ‘Service Above Self’, into a form of high-impact social transformation.
“MBDK strongly supports this noble effort in fostering unity and strengthening corporate social responsibility between the public, private sectors and residents,” she said in a statement to Media Selangor.
Earlier, Norfiza, representing the Klang Mayor, officiated the Rotary Roundabout launch ceremony in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang yesterday.
Also present were representative of the Rotary International President and Chair of the Rotary International Foundation Holger Knaack; Rotary International District 3300 Malaysia governor Edward Khoo; and Special Officer to the Prime Minister Shanmugam Mookan.
Norfiza also expressed hope that the new landmark would serve as a catalyst for more strategic collaborations in the future to drive an inclusive community development agenda.
