SEPANG, May 17 — A Chinese national was detained after behaving aggressively while attempting to pass through the international departure gate at Terminal 1 of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday.
KLIA police chief ACP M. Ravi said in the 1.35pm incident at International Departure Gate C, the suspect was found passing through the security inspection autogate without a valid ticket and acted aggressively when approached by security personnel for inspection.
“Acting on information received, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd KLIA auxiliary police detained the woman at 1.45pm on the same day,” he said in a statement today.
Ravi added that initial investigations found the suspect had entered the country on April 30 for a holiday with a friend, but did not have enough money to purchase a ticket to return to her home country.
She was brought before the Sepang Court today and remanded for one day to facilitate further investigations under Section 7 of the Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959, which provides for a fine of up to RM1,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, or both, upon conviction.
