SHAH ALAM, April 27 — A senior citizen died after the car he was driving crashed into a stone structure and overturned onto the drainage shoulder along Jalan Bukit Kerayong, Pandamaran, Klang, yesterday.
Klang Selatan district police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said preliminary investigations showed the accident occurred at 8.30pm and involved a Toyota Avanza driven by the victim, who was in his early 60s.
“The victim is believed to have lost control of the vehicle while travelling from Jalan Bukit Kerayong towards Jalan Banting Pandamaran, before crashing into a stone structure at the corner of a house by the roadside.
“The force of the collision caused the vehicle to flip onto its side on the drain shoulder, and when bystanders tried to move it, the car fell into the drain with the victim inside,” he said, adding that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and has also been classified as a sudden death report.
Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting investigating officer Inspector Ahmad Syahid Salahudin at 011‑35753557 or the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, Lim urged all road users to stay alert and obey traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.
