SHAH ALAM, 26 APRIL: A maintenance manhole along Jalan Klang-Sabak Bernam that caused an accident involving a motorcyclist has been promptly addressed to reduce risks to road users.
Selangor Public Works Department (JKR) director Shukri Ishak said premix patching works have been carried out by Telekom Malaysia (TM) to ensure the manhole surface is level with the existing road.
Initial checks found that the utility manhole was positioned higher than the road surface, posing a potential hazard to users.
“The Kuala Selangor JKR had previously issued a notice for adjustments to be made to match the road level, but the repair works had not yet been carried out. However, as an immediate measure, the concessionaire undertook temporary road-surface works to reduce risks to road users.
“I understand that TM has now carried out permanent repairs by conducting premix patching at the manhole location,” he told Media Selangor.
Meanwhile, Shukri said TM must conduct a comprehensive inspection of all utility structures along the stretch to ensure no further hazards remain.
“It must also monitor all repair works to ensure they comply with the technical specifications and standards set by JKR,” he added.
Yesterday, a video went viral showing a motorcyclist injured after being involved in an accident along Jalan Klang-Sabak Bernam.
