State to engage key sectors for Phase 2 stimulus package

SHAH ALAM, April 20 — The state government, through Invest Selangor Bhd, will engage with key industry players, including those in the services and construction sectors, to assess the support needed to help them navigate ongoing global challenges.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the sessions will take place within the next two weeks and will be included in the state’s phase two stimulus package.

“This (support) is needed to help these industries remain resilient despite pressures arising from the ongoing (West Asia) crisis.

“That forms part of the planning for phase two (of Selangor stimulus package),” he told reporters after attending the Tautan Muhibah event organised by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, here today.

On April 16, Amirudin announced Phase 1 of the RM131 million Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package, aimed at strengthening the state’s economic resilience amid global uncertainties.

Initiatives under the package will be rolled out in June, with a focus on cushioning small businesses and the people from the impact of the West Asia conflict.

Amirudin said the first part of the stimulus package is being coordinated and implemented according to schedule.

“The (package) involves broader networks, not just recipients, but also workers, shop owners, and small traders.

“For instance, for the RM100 Kita Selangor vouchers, we are deciding the list of shops that may serve as participating vendors.”

He said the state’s aim is not only to protect the people from the economic impact of the conflict, but to support businesses.

“The entire ecosystem, whether the supply chain or services, must be able to function smoothly,” Amirudin added.
