RAWANG, April 16 — Selangor has not set any transaction value target for its ASEAN edition of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), which will be held in Bandung, Indonesia, this July, as the state undertakes its first overseas expansion of the programme.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the absence of a potential transaction value reflects the exploratory nature of the initiative, which is focused on building regional linkages rather than measuring immediate commercial returns.
"The Bandung sub-event marks the first time SIBS is being held outside Selangor and is designed to help Selangor-based companies explore wider international markets, particularly within the ASEAN region," he said during the grand opening of Chinese display firm SmartWin Electronics Technology’s facility in Rawang today.
Instead of focusing on attracting investment into Selangor, the initiative will prioritise supporting local companies in expanding their reach abroad and gaining exposure to new market opportunities.
"The programme is expected to strengthen Selangor’s role as a regional business facilitator by creating new networking opportunities between Malaysian and Indonesian industry players,” Ng said.
He added that beyond market access, the state is also positioning the initiative as part of its broader strategy to support businesses amid ongoing global economic uncertainty.
This includes efforts to help companies reduce operating costs through more efficient processes, including faster approvals and streamlined licensing procedures.
"The state government will continue to refine its pro-business policies to ensure Selangor remains competitive in attracting and retaining investors, particularly as global supply chains continue to shift,” Ng said.
