KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — Malaysian students abroad are safe amid current geopolitical challenges, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.
He said the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) is working closely with the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) to monitor the welfare and safety of Malaysians overseas.
“We will continue to assist them, with support provided on a case-by-case basis,” he told reporters after officiating the Public-Private Research Network (PPRN) 2026 Conference today.
Zambry added that the situation varies by country, the number of students, and local challenges.
Separately, he stressed that MOHE has a zero-tolerance approach for corruption in higher learning institutions.
He said any abuse of power or corruption at universities, polytechnics, or other higher learning institutions must be addressed seriously, regardless of scale.
He confirmed that MOHE fully cooperates with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in investigations and reviews, and refers financial management and project matters to the National Audit Department.
