SABAK BERNAM, 5 April — Farmers and fishermen will also be considered in targeted actions to be announced by the state government to address the effects of the West Asia conflict, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said both groups should continue to receive attention because they are key economic contributors in the state.
“The state government is working hard to review developments soon. Of course, we are facing pressure, but Selangor has started to make plans to face this challenge.
“I have met with important officials and started planning support (initiatives), including those for farmers, fishermen, and key economic drivers in Sabak Bernam.
“The main focus is on maintaining existing sectoral jobs even though we are facing a crisis, in addition to focusing on helping needy groups, especially with food,” he said at Majlis Tautan Kasih D’Desa, held yesterday at Dewan Sri Nakhoda in Sungai Air Tawar here.
Amirudin also said the state government will focus on the green energy industry as a long-term solution, adding that the solution was taken to reduce dependence on current energy sources.
He advised the public not to panic as food supplies in Selangor are sufficient.
“I am keeping track of food and rice supplies that need to be prepared. So far, Selangor’s food supply is sufficient, and the food warehouse established two years ago can fulfil demand for three months.
“If there is no support, the Selangor Food Warehouse (GMS) is available, but the federal government has assured us that our rice and meat stocks are sufficient. Don’t panic as we’ll be monitoring supply and prices every day,” he said.
“Now is not the time for division; (let’s) unite and defend our lives. Every step that will be implemented is (the culmination of) views shared by all parties, and the state government will continue to help,” Amirudin added.
