SHAH ALAM, April 5 — The state government provides various initiatives for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates in Selangor to further their studies, said Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.
He said aid initiatives include scholarships or loans to help school-leavers enter higher learning institutions such as universities and colleges.
He added that the foundation also provides aid to SPM graduates who choose to enrol in Form Six to take the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), which has proven popular.

Azri also said Selangor will announce aid initiatives including for devices and free internet data for two years, which is the length of Form Six studies.
“Form Six students often miss out on aid. We don’t want them to be seen as the second choice just because they didn’t go straight to university or college,” he told Media Selangor.
He added that the first-time initiative involves a quota of 300 students, who will be selected with the Selangor State Education Department and state District Education Offices.
Previously, the Selangor government disbursed RM200 book vouchers to Form Six students for them to buy reference materials.
Last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said RM400,000 has been allocated to keep up the initiative, which is expected to expand this year.
In 2025, 413,372 students sat the SPM nationwide from November 3 to December 23, including 73,899 in Selangor.
The number of students who achieved A+, A or A- for all SPM subjects in Selangor went up by 0.5 per cent last year compared with the previous year, with the state grade average jumping to 4.59 last year from 4.67 in 2024.
