SHAH ALAM, April 4 — A total of 45 Selangor athletes who achieved excellent results in the recent Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations received cash incentives ranging from RM500 to RM1,000.

State executive councillor for youth and sports Mohd Najwan Halimi said the incentive serves as encouragement for state athletes to continue maintaining excellence in both academics and sports.

“Forty-five athletes received incentives ranging from RM500 to RM1,000 according to their respective achievements, as a token of appreciation for their efforts in balancing academics and sports.

“This is a recognition of Selangor athletes who not only represent the state in sports but also demonstrate commendable academic performance,” he said.

He said this when met at an Aidilfitri celebration at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Section 7, here today.

The event brought together more than 5,000 visitors and was jointly organised by the Kota Anggerik state constituency (DUN), the Selangor State Sports Council (MSN), the SUKMA Secretariat, Hijrah Selangor, and several other agencies.

According to Najwan, the integrated approach to organising the event is in line with the state government’s efforts to optimise the use of allocations.

“This programme was carried out in an integrated manner in line with the prime minister’s suggestion to reduce event costs. Departments and agencies were combined into one event to ensure more efficient and prudent use of allocations."

He also expressed his appreciation to the public for attending and enlivening the celebration.

“About 5,000 to 6,000 visitors attended this event, which was organised in conjunction with Aidilfitri, as a platform for us to strengthen ties and share joy with the people."

Selangor’s SPM 2025 results showed a commendable improvement, with the percentage of candidates eligible for certification rising to 92.15 per cent, up from 91.53 per cent the previous year.
