SHAH ALAM, April 3 — The Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has reminded civil servants that the implementation of the work-from-home (WFH) policy, which will begin on April 15, does not mean “Lie Down, Sit, and Rest”.

The policy is not a licence for public sector employees to neglect their duties or take their responsibilities lightly; instead, it requires the same level of productivity as working in the office.

“Do not misunderstand: WFH does not mean lying down, sitting, and resting, nor does it mean going shopping at supermarkets.

“Output and productivity must remain the same, as officers carrying out WFH must have clear key performance indicators set in advance,” he said.

Shamsul was delivering the Taat Setia Madani keynote address in conjunction with the Selangor-level Jelajah Taat Setia Madani Programme at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Section 7, today.

The event, attended by over 2,000 state civil servants, was also attended by State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin and Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

Meanwhile, he urged civil servants in Selangor to act as agents of accurate information, serving as reliable sources for their families and friends to convey verified information, particularly regarding government policies.

Public officers share responsibility for explaining the correct facts, and are bound by the Public Officers Regulations and laws related to communications and official secrets.

“This is the age of social media, the Prime Minister often says, ‘this is an age of madness’. False information spreads faster than the truth.

"In the context of loyalty, I urge Selangor civil servants to be agents of accurate information. Let us not be the first to forward fake news in WhatsApp groups with family, colleagues, or even close friends,” Shamsul said.
