HULU LANGAT, April 2 — Approximately 78,112 affordable housing units have been offered to the public as of December 15, 2025, in line with the state government’s commitment to ensuring the people have access to sufficient, quality, and affordable housing.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that, overall, 147,967 affordable housing units are currently at various stages of implementation, including completed projects, those under construction, and those in planning.

This progress puts the target of delivering 200,000 affordable housing units by 2028 on the right track, in line with efforts to provide comfortable, high-quality homes for the people.

“InsyaAllah (God willing), by 2028, I believe if we can maintain this momentum, we will be able to complete the housing projects and achieve the target we have set to provide dignified housing,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the symbolic handover of the key for the Residensi Selangorku Oleander project today.

He added that Residensi Oleander was developed through the Rumah Idaman MBI and Rumah Selangorku Harapan concepts; initiatives introduced when the state was facing economic uncertainty following the COVID-19 pandemic, which have since proven to be among the key solutions for providing affordable housing.

“I still remember when we first wanted to develop this type of housing concept: 1,000 square feet, with two parking spaces, partially furnished, with wardrobes and air conditioning.

“At that time, many parties felt we might not be able to do it. We started in Kajang. We fulfilled a 1995 promise to Selangor football players who had previously been offered homes.

“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), at a time when we were facing a crisis and uncertainty, the state government’s innovation and way of thinking produced a housing solution that is more convenient, comfortable, and affordable, delivering greater benefits,” Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar first announced the Rumah Idaman MBI and Rumah Selangorku Harapan initiatives during the Budget presentation on July 13, 2020, as part of the Economic Recovery Plan and the Third Economic Stimulus Package, specifically under the second pillar, Economic Sustainability.

They aimed to stimulate property development after the COVID-19 pandemic and were known as the Post-Pandemic Affordable Housing Construction Incentive.

Earlier, he also witnessed the signing of an MoU between Trans Loyal Development Sdn Bhd and the state government via the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) for the development of 26,405 affordable housing units over a 15-year period.

The collaboration will see the company act as a strategic partner to accelerate project implementation, ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards, and optimise costs and construction timelines through innovative and competitive approaches.
