HULU LANGAT, March 31 — The Puncak Ampang Look Out Point (Puncak ALOP) has reopened to the public as a new tourism attraction in Selangor after undergoing comprehensive upgrading and redevelopment works.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said last night the reopening reflects the state government’s commitment to strengthening the tourism sector, particularly in high-potential areas such as Hulu Langat.
“During my first term as executive councillor, we worked with the Selangor Forestry Department (JPNS) to explore ways to revitalise this area as a tourism destination.
“After I became menteri besar, we continued exploring various localities here, as we recognised its potential following slope rehabilitation works. We then proceeded with further planning, and by 2025 we began implementation.
“I believe Puncak ALOP can become a highly attractive destination, similar to other attractions in Selangor such as theme parks, and further boost tourist arrivals,” he said.
Earlier, he officiated the reopening ceremony, which was attended by tourism executive councillor Dato’ Ng Suee Lim and Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling.

Meanwhile, Ng said the redevelopment project for Puncak ALOP is fully funded by the private sector and is being carried out in two phases, with full completion expected next year.
He said the first phase, which has been completed, involved an investment of RM10 million, while the second phase is estimated to cost RM25 million.
“For the second phase, development will include facilities such as camping and caravan sites, as well as the construction of an observation tower, further strengthening Puncak ALOP’s position as a key state tourism destination.
“Puncak ALOP has also obtained an operating licence to ensure that safety, regulatory compliance and visitor comfort remain a priority,” he said.
Puncak ALOP, located within a lowland dipterocarp forest at an elevation of 260 metres above sea level, offers a sweeping panorama of much of Kuala Lumpur.
The area is also a popular spot for evening leisure activities among youths, as well as a favoured destination for the cycling community.
