SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Thirty-four representatives from Residents’ Associations and Neighbourhood Watch groups around the Bandar Utama state constituency attended the launch of the Pro-Community Grant yesterday.
Bandar Utama state assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the initiative, introduced by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), aims to empower grassroots communities through various programmes involving neighbourhood safety, environmental sustainability, social activities, youth participation, and local community development.
The grant provides communities with the opportunity to plan and implement programmes that directly impact residents.
Simultaneously, MBPJ also shared several existing initiatives, including PJ Seed, the PJ Green Rebate and the Petaling Jaya Neighbourhood Safety Team, which can be leveraged to support holistic community development.
She said the implementation of the grant is expected to strengthen neighbourhood networks, enhance residents’ well-being, and build more sustainable and inclusive communities.
The event was also attended by MBPJ representatives and local community leaders, including zonal councillors and chairmen of Village Development and Security Committees.
