GOMBAK, March 30 — A total of 92 individuals were detained during Ops Pau at Bukit Pau, Kemensah yesterday after being found participating in recreational activities without valid permits in the Ulu Gombak Tambahan Forest Reserve.

The Selangor Forestry Department enforcement operation ran from 6 am to 3 pm and was led by Central Selangor District forest officer Mohd Hadre Mohamad, along with 22 personnel.

JPNS said all those involved were believed to have joined a hiking event organised by an NGO without obtaining a Forest Reserve Entry Permit (Form 6).

“The organiser and all participants were detained and taken to the Taman Melawati Police Station for reporting and further investigation,” JPNS said in a Facebook statement.

JPNS stressed that the action constitutes an offence under Section 47 of the National Forestry Act 1985 (Application).

The public and organisers are reminded to obtain permits before conducting any activities within forest reserve areas to avoid legal action.
