SHAH ALAM, March 30 — A total of 200,000 new recipients have been approved under Phase 2 of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), with payments beginning today.
The Ministry of Finance Malaysia said in a Facebook statement that the addition is part of the government’s effort to ensure aid reaches more citizens in need.
“The MADANI government always ensures that assistance reaches as many citizens in need as possible, especially during challenging living costs,” the statement read.
The ministry said the aid is expected to ease the financial burden on recipients and provide relief to households.
“We hope this assistance can lighten the load and bring some relief to you and your family,” it added.
Members of the public are also encouraged to check and update their status through the official portal at bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously announced that STR Phase 2 payments would be brought forward and credited gradually to help citizens prepare for Aidilfitri.
The payments will benefit 5.2 million recipients with an allocation of RM1.3 billion, including the 200,000 newly approved recipients.
Overall, the aid covers 3.8 million households and 1.4 million single senior citizens, with payment amounts ranging from RM100 to RM600 depending on eligibility.
