SHAH ALAM, March 27 — The Selangor government’s experience in managing the movement control order (MCO) during the COVID-19 pandemic has become its foundation in formulating a more effective work-from-home (WFH) approach, said state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.
She added that the state administration will study WFH needs by civil servant category and rank, in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s suggestion to implement WFH policies in stages.
Anfaal said a good approach would ensure public service delivery remains unaffected.
“The state government will make sure each decision made is balanced and considers civil servants’ welfare and government services’ operational needs,” she told Media Selangor.
Previously, the federal government said it would consider flexible work arrangements, including WFH for the civil service, to adjust to global oil market disruptions due to the conflict in West Asia.
Anwar said WFH would be selectively implemented in government departments and urged the private sector to follow suit.
He added that this would ensure operational efficiency, maintain discipline, and prevent leakages.
