TEHRAN, March 25 — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Malaysian counterpart, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, held a telephone conversation today to discuss bilateral ties and the latest developments in the war.
The Mehr News Agency reported that during the phone call, the two top diplomats exchanged views on bilateral relations and the latest developments in the war, especially the economic consequences of the United States-Israeli war imposed on Iran.
Araghchi briefed Mohamad on the heinous crimes committed by the US and Israel against the innocent people of the country, particularly attacks on schools, hospitals, and residential areas, emphasising the country’s determination to firmly defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He added that Iran will defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity with utmost power and strength.
It is also committed to maintaining friendly relations, based on good neighbourliness, with all countries in the region.
Araghchi noted that the use of military bases and facilities in regional countries by the US and Israel to attack Iran has left it with no choice but to resort to defensive measures within the framework of its inherent right of self-defence.
He referred to the consequences of the military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime on the economy, security and stability of the region, as well as maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz.
The insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime, and Iran has adopted a series of measures within the framework of international law to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
