Ops HRA 2026: Over 172,000 vehicles inspected nationwide

IPOH, March 24 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has inspected 172,479 vehicles nationwide under its Hari Raya Aidilfitri Operation 2026 (Ops HRA 2026) as of yesterday.

Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said that, of the total, 14,455 vehicles were subjected to enforcement action for offences, covering private cars, motorcycles, goods vehicles, public service vehicles, and buses.

1,651 inspection slips were issued, while 289 vehicles, including 43 goods vehicles, were seized for failing to comply with the road ban currently in force.

“JPJ has issued 33,402 notices for various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987, including JPJ(P)22 notices, inspection direction notices and interview notices under Section 114 of the Act.

“A total of 2,566 major offences were detected during the operation, the most frequent being not wearing a seat belt with 761 cases, followed by overloading (353 cases) and carrying loads dangerously (298 cases),” he told a media conference after inspecting the implementation of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Operation at the Menora Control Centre last night.

Aedy added that 317 cases were recorded for disobeying traffic lights, while 293 cases involved not wearing helmets.

“Also, recording significant figures were offences of using a mobile phone while driving (207 cases), cutting the queue (132 cases), driving in the emergency lane (124 cases), and overtaking on a double line (81 cases).

“Analysis by state shows that Johor recorded the highest number of offences at 881 cases, followed by Pahang with 264 cases and Perak with 207 cases, mainly for not wearing a seat belt and using a mobile phone while driving,” he said.

The special operation was carried out in conjunction with the festive season to maintain road safety and to enhance adherence to traffic regulations.
