SHAH ALAM, March 23 — A man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by a car at Kilometre 0.3 of the Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) on Saturday (March 21).
Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 5.56pm accident left the 24-year-old victim seriously injured before being pronounced dead at the scene.
“Preliminary investigations found that the car, travelling from the direction of Kajang, was believed to have been driven at high speed and recklessly while entering the exit towards Ampang.
“The vehicle is believed to have overtaken another vehicle before colliding with the victim’s motorcycle, which was in the right lane,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Naazron added that the collision caused the victim, a mechanic, to suffer severe head injuries, in addition to the loss of his left arm.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
The car's driver, a 26-year-old local man working as an e-hailing driver, was detained to assist in investigations before being released on police bail yesterday.
Naazron said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which provides for imprisonment of between five and 10 years and a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000 upon conviction.
