KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 — A ban on goods and logistics vehicles during Aidilfitri will be effective on March 19 and 20, as well as March 28 and 29.
The Transport Ministry (MOT) said the measure aims to ensure smoother traffic flow, reduce accident risks and facilitate safer, more comfortable journeys, in line with the Malaysia Madani aspiration.
“The ban is implemented to balance traffic flow with critical operations.
“The public is encouraged to plan their journeys carefully and comply with regulations for the safety of all,” the ministry said in a Facebook post today.
In a separate post, MOT said certain heavy vehicles will be allowed to operate within specific time limits on the affected dates. Container and cargo lorries may operate from 8am to 8pm, while construction vehicles are permitted from 6am to 6pm within a 25km radius of construction sites.
Exemptions are also given to critical services, including emergency operations, transport from ports and airports, and the delivery of essential goods.
“This approach reflects MOT’s commitment to ensuring road safety and smooth traffic flow without disrupting essential operations,” it said.
