SUBANG JAYA, March 17 — Traffic congestion and the upgrading of sports infrastructure in the Seri Serdang state constituency are among key issues targeted for resolution this year.

Its assemblyman Abbas Salimi Azmi said the most critical hotspot is Taman Equine, which has recorded the highest number of complaints from residents over traffic congestion.

“To address this, Subang Jaya City Council and the Selangor Public Works Department have approved RM22 million to build a missing link in the Equine area.

“A consultant will be appointed in June to prepare the project design. The project is expected to resolve congestion problems that have persisted for nearly 20 years in the area,” he said.

He said this at a press conference during the Jom Shopping Aidilfitri voucher handover ceremony at NSK 3 Elements supermarket in Seri Kembangan yesterday.

Abbas added that efforts are also focused on easing traffic flow along Persiaran Arif, particularly in front of Giant Hypermarket Seri Kembangan.

“The Selangor Public Works Department has approved about RM300 million for the construction of two flyovers at the location to reduce frequent traffic congestion.

“I have also contacted the relevant parties to address congestion along the Damansara Puchong Highway, but there is still no solution,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abbas said upgrading sports facilities will not only support the organisation of SUKMA 2026, but will also provide long term benefits for the local community.

“The badminton court at the MBSJ Hall in Kampung Sri Aman will be upgraded and converted into a pickleball court.

“Dewan Seri Serdang will also serve as a venue for silambam and kabaddi events during SUKMA,” he said.
