SHAH ALAM, March 15 — A tahfiz foundation has been established to manage infak (voluntary donations) assets, ensuring that contributions to tahfiz institutions in Selangor are administered more effectively.

State executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the foundation, managed by Persatuan Institusi Tahfiz Selangor (PITAS), serves as a dedicated entity to oversee assets donated to tahfiz institutions.

Its establishment also involves the state government in ensuring that all infak contributions are managed in a structured and transparent manner.

“This foundation has its own board of management, but the state government is also involved in ensuring that infak is properly regulated. The foundation will also function in infrastructure management, providing input to the government.

“In addition, a tahfiz trust fund has been set up under the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) to make it easier for those who wish to donate by channelling their contributions to a single centre,” he said during the opening ceremony of the 19th Ijtima’ Huffaz Selangor at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah today.

During the event, Ahmad Shahir Makhtar received the Selangor Tahfiz Education Supporter Award, while Mohammar Bokhari Shariff was honoured with the Selangor Tahfiz Institution Supporter Award.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said the state is currently developing tahfiz institutions in Selangor into a recognised brand for producing generations well-versed in the Quran.

“It is our aspiration to elevate tahfiz institutions to a level comparable with schools under the Education Ministry or private institutions.

“The teaching modules will also be standardised or given their own improved standards. We expect this rebranding process to be completed before the upcoming elections,” he said.
