SHAH ALAM, March 12 — A total of 5,058 household heads registered under the eKasih system in Selangor have moved out of the hardcore poor category as of February 20, reflecting the state government’s ongoing commitment to citizens’ welfare.

Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad, political secretary to the menteri besar, said: “The prosperity of a state is not only measured through development, but also by how well the welfare of those in need is cared for.”

The initiative, part of the ‘Sejahtera MADANI Kebajikan: Ikatan Kasih Ramadan 1447H’ programme, focuses on empowering household heads living in poverty.

Meanwhile, 410 eKasih-registered households received RM500 in cash assistance to help with Aidilfitri preparations through the same programme.

The menteri besar’s political secretary, Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad, speaks to the press at Dewan Jubli Perak of the State Secretariat Building in Shah Alam on March 11, 2026.

In line with the Malaysia MADANI principle, the Selangor government emphasises compassion and citizens’ well-being, ensuring no one is left behind in social protection and development.

The event also saw RM100,000 in Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) Prime contributions distributed to 200 secondary school students from low-income families.

Saifuddin said: “Early financial support for education is hoped to nurture a knowledgeable and skilled generation who will contribute to national development.”
