SHAH ALAM, March 11 — The Selangor Immigration Department has identified unregistered jetties along the state’s coastline that have become ‘hotspots’ for foreign nationals leaving the country illegally ahead of Aidilfitri.
Its director, Khairrul Aminus Kamaruddin, said among the areas identified is Sabak Bernam, which has several unregistered jetties and ungazetted routes.
“There are several high-risk areas believed to be used as alternative routes for sending foreign nationals back to their home countries without passing through officially gazetted exit points."
He told reporters this at the Ramadan bazaar inspectorate programme at Jalan Kebun yesterday.
Khairrul Aminus urged foreign nationals to use official exit points such as Port Klang, or to utilise the ferry service in Port Dickson.
In a related development, he said the Immigration Department is actively monitoring the movement of suspicious vehicles believed to be used to transport foreigners.
"We welcome the public's cooperation to channel any information to us on suspicious activities involving foreign nationals."
Meanwhile, Khairrul Aminus said since the Migrant Repatriation Programme was launched on May 19, 2025, a total of 49,808 foreigners have participated, allowing them to return to their home countries without facing detention.
"Data shows an upward trend, with 5,216 participants in December last year rising to 6,158 in January and 8,402 in February."
